Meg Sutton

Senior Software Engineer
Q: Why do you work at EnergyHub?
A: EnergyHub's mission to decarbonize the grid resonates with me and making progress on that long term goal motivates me in my work. The day-to-day technical tasks of integrating and managing hundreds of thousands of distributed smart devices is also challenging and interesting to me as a software engineer.
Q: Why did you come to EnergyHub?
A: I've spent my career working in climate research and clean technology. I'm passionate about the field and thrive working on the technical challenges in that space. When I heard about EnergyHub, I was immediately excited about controlling smart devices to attenuate the peaks and troughs of electricity demand, and aligning it with renewable energy generation. To me, the vision was so clear, and so needed, that I decided to get involved and contribute.
Q: What do you do in your spare time?
A: I relocated to Glasgow, Scotland from New York City about three years ago and have quickly taken advantage of the great access to hiking here. Peaks over 3,000 feet are called "Munros'' in Scotland. There are 282 of them and I've done 25 so far!
One aspect of EnergyHub which is really important to me is that the mission aligns with the wallet.
Q: How does working here align with your values?
A: One aspect of EnergyHub which is really important to me is that the mission aligns with the wallet. There are many examples of companies which include climate objectives in their mission, but aren't making any notable efforts towards those goals (aka greenwashing). EnergyHub's mission prioritizes grid decarbonization, and the software products sold directly align with that.
