Mercury becomes first DERMS to provide utilities with enhanced reporting on Google’s Nest demand response performance

New York, NY – Nov. 1, 2018 –EnergyHub and Google have announced new functionality in our software integration that improves demand response reporting and performance tracking for utility operators who manage Google’s Nest home energy devices through EnergyHub’s Mercury Distributed Energy Resource Management System (DERMS) platform.

The integration allows utilities to see Nest thermostat runtime and event participation metrics within the Mercury DERMS — making Mercury the first platform to present Nest thermostat performance to utility operators in a single, consolidated view.

With this addition, EnergyHub’s utility clients now have a comprehensive view of runtime and event participation reports across all thermostats participating in demand-side management programs, allowing them to easily measure and verify event performance in a single view within the Mercury platform.

All reporting in Mercury uses industry standard measurement and verification (M&V) methodologies to evaluate performance and provide utilities with an in-depth look into the effectiveness of demand response events. With this update to Mercury’s existing Nest integration, utilities can now see Nest thermostat runtime and participation in that standard format.

“EnergyHub and Google share a commitment to ensuring our utility clients’ success,” said Seth Frader-Thompson, President and Co-founder of EnergyHub. “This integration with Nest thermostats provides our utility clients with another powerful tool to improve demand response M&V and streamlines demand response operations to make Mercury an even more useful tool for utilities.”

EnergyHub has been working with Google and Nest on demand response programs since 2016. Mercury was the first DERMS to integrate with Nest’s dispatch API in 2017, which created the ability to enroll and dispatch Nest thermostats for demand response in EnergyHub’s platform.

EnergyHub’s Mercury DERMS is used by more than 40 utilities across the United States to manage demand response, energy efficiency, and distributed energy resource (DER) programs. Combining sophisticated analytics with the largest ecosystem of connected device and DER partners in the industry, EnergyHub’s Mercury DERMS is the industry-leading platform for helping utilities manage both customer- and utility-installed DERs.
