Optimizing the demand response program enrollment process
In 2016, EnergyHub participated in California’s first Demand Response Auction Mechanism (DRAM). We saw enrollment rates of less than 3 percent of eligible customers. In comparison, EnergyHub’s programs in Texas achieve enrollments of more than 40 percent of eligible customers.
Our review of the two acquisition funnels revealed that the steps and requirements imposed on the customer during the enrollment process in California created significant friction, resulting in poor participation results. In this white paper, we discuss the factors that led to those results and provide specific recommendations for improvement.
