Museum of the City of New York Exhibit

EnergyHub Team

December 1, 2008

An EnergyHub prototype showing some of the system’s features is on display at the Museum of the City of New York as a part of “Growing and Greening New York,” an exhibit illustrating the complexities of greater environmental sustainability in New York City.

The exhibit, which runs until April 22, is organized to reflect the average day of a New Yorker and explores Mayor Michael Bloomberg’s blueprint for sustainability by 2030, PlaNYC. With over 200 agencies, foundations, individuals and non-profits participating, “Growing and Greening” asks the question: How must New Yorkers change to make a sustainable future possible?

The EnergyHub prototype is set up in a mock living room. Museum-goers can turn appliances on and off using the dashboard, and can track the energy levels of different devices, including the amount of money saved by replacing a regular lightbulb with a compact fluorescent lightbulb.

“It’s a great opportunity for us to demonstrate a few features of our system,” says EnergyHub’s design director Stephan von Muehlen. “But one of the best things to come out of the exhibit is the new community of people working on green and sustainability issues here in New York. The museum brought many of us together for the first time.”
