New York, NY – January 7, 2015 – EnergyHub, a leading home energy solutions provider, today announced the appointment of Dr. Benjamin Hertz-Shargel as Vice President of Analytics. Hertz-Shargel will serve as EnergyHub’s lead data scientist, responsible for analytics within EnergyHub’s Mercury software platform.
“We’re excited to bring Ben on board to take our platform to the next level, bringing even greater intelligence to our customer, utility, and OEM offerings, said Seth Frader-Thompson, President and Co-Founder of EnergyHub.”
Mercury already provides EnergyHub’s utility and OEM customers with industry-leading analytics, including detailed load forecasting for utilities and advanced energy efficiency algorithms for service providers. Hertz-Shargel will focus on developing next generation analytics which will provide EnergyHub’s customers with deeper insight into energy usage from the over 15 billion data points collected by EnergyHub every month.
Most recently, Hertz-Shargel was VP Technology at ThinkEco, where he managed the company’s Software and Data team and participated in the formulation of its technology strategy. Prior to ThinkEco, he held applied research positions at the Quantitative Strategies group at Credit Suisse, the New England Complex Systems Institute, the MIT Physics Department, and Icosystem Corporation. Hertz-Shargel holds a BA in Computer Science from Northwestern, an MS in Mathematics from the Courant Institute at NYU, and a PhD in Mathematics from UCLA.
“It’s a privilege to join such an established leader in home energy management and demand response,” Hertz-Shargel said. “I look forward to contributing to the already substantial analytics capabilities of the Mercury platform and building out the next generation of the company’s customer and utility-facing data services.”
