Chris John

DevOps Engineer

Q: Why do you work at EnergyHub?

A: I wanted to challenge myself, so I looked at my options and decided to take up a new position as part of the EnergyHub team.

Q: Why did you come to EnergyHub?

A: I was referred by Alanza Burke, a former co-worker. He told me about the projects EnergyHub was working on, and it all sounded extremely exciting!

Q: What do you do in your spare time?

A: Other than running after my three kids, I spend time collecting and reading comics, playing video games, and running a podcast!
“We only have one earth and especially as I have kids, I want to make sure I do my part to leave this place better than I found it.

Q: How does working here align with your values?

A: My family jokingly calls me “Captain Planet”–but there’s a serious point to the nickname. We only have one earth and especially as I have kids, I want to make sure I do my part to leave this place better than I found it. So that’s why EnergyHub and its mission of decarbonizing our energy system really speaks to me.

Q: How does your work impact climate change?

A: We on the DevOps manage platform infrastructure, security, and reliability. Our work enables our colleagues on other teams to build scalable, impactful products that help our utility clients to achieve their decarbonization goals.

Q: What’s your advice for job seekers looking for meaningful work on climate?

A: Join us–we’re making it happen! And what’s more, it’s a great place to work. Everyone I’ve met at EnergyHub is super friendly and very knowledgeable.

Q: What is your favorite local spot to grab a bite?

A: I work remotely generally, but the one time I did go into the office, I had a spicy shrimp flatbread at a nice place called Bijan. It was pretty good!
